Day One

Fly to Cologne or Dusseldorf and join Olympia in Andernach before she begins her journey along the mighty Rhine this evening.

Day Two

This morning Olympia sets sail from Andernach, heading to idyllic Boppard, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage region of the Upper/Middle Rhine.

Discover the town's Roman fort and beautiful historic quarter on our fascinating walking tour, and this evening, enjoy dinner and entertainment on board or explore Boppard by night.

Day Three

Today, Olympia sails into the picturesque Middle Rhine, past vineyards and ancient villages, and through the narrow gorge beneath the Lorelei - the legendary rock where sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fate.

This afternoon, Olympia ties up in the celebrated wine town of Rudesheim. Explore its famous Drosselgasse, lined with bars and weinstuben (taverns), and perhaps join our optional excursion to see the quirky wonders of Siegfried's Musikkabinett.

Enjoy dinner and entertainment on board this evening, or head back ashore.

Day Four

Cruising south this morning, Olympia calls at historic Mainz. Join our optional walking tour and discover its six-towered cathedral, Gutenberg Museum and delightful Altstadt (old town), before returning to Olympia for this afternoon's sailing back through the Rhine Gorge to Koblenz.

Step ashore to stroll the pretty Altstadt or along the riverfront promenade, before enjoying dinner and entertainment on board.

Day Five

Olympia continues downriver, passing the delightful town of Konigswinter and former German capital, Bonn, to arrive back in Cologne by early afternoon. Explore the great Rhineland capital, or join our coach excursion into the breathtaking Ahr Valley, before returning to Cologne to explore its vast cathedral and the surrounding Altstadt with a local guide.

This evening, the Captain hosts a Farewell Dinner on board, and there's a chance to swap memories of the past wonderful few days with fellow passengers.

Day Six

Bid 'auf wiedersehen' to Olympia and her crew this morning, and transfer to the airport to board your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

*Offer applies to new bookings made between 1st and 30th September 2016 (inclusive) only. Prices shown when booking do not include the Buy-One-Get-One-Free discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. Discounts apply to all cabin categories. This offer is subject to availability, may not be used in conjunction with any other offer and may be withdrawn at any time. All fares exclude gratuities.

Extremely poor transfer from flight arrival to transfer to the ship. For that reason alone I would not recommend this holiday and indeed it was the second time in a week that I had ben disappointed by Newmarket. On the previous weekend we travelled to London to the Katherine Jenkins Celebration Concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Why we stayed in a hotel at Gatwick airport over an hour away I will never know and then on our return to the hotel the M25 was closed and it took almost three hours to get back to the hotel. The visit to Windsor Castle the next day we were told we would not have to queue to get in, and that the chapel would be open, wrong on both accounts! the queues for all attractions were to say the least meant spending most of the visit residing in them.

A very good short break. All staff and manager on-board were informative and happy to help. Only irritation was after being collected at Cologne airport, to then find we were dropped-off in Cologne and having to waste 3 hours before being collected to continue our transfer to the ship. The driver then took the slow roads to the ship, so instead of taking about an hour it took about 1.75 hours. This was made even more annoying as the vehicle cooling/air conditioning system was not working. This made for a very uncomfortable transfer.

Very good experience and an excellent way to see the Rhine towns.
Only negative - not entirely comfortable with the tour manager as at times he was a bit patronising and spoke to us as if we were children.

Really enjoyed our holiday however joining the ship was a long day flying into Dusseldorf on a night flight followed by a 1.5 hour taxi ride to Andernach arriving at the boat at11:15pm and then on the return day another long day after leaving the boat at 09:00am whilst our return flight to Leeds/Bradford was not until 9:50pm at night. otherwise thoroughly enjoyable river cruise.

This was my first ever cruise but it won't be my last! The whole crew were wonderful, looking after everyone all the time. The ship was very clean, the cabins were very clean, the food was fantastic, and our tour manager was very good, giving us lots of information whilst on board and ashore.

The concert that the crew put on towards the end of my holiday was a riot, they were all so funny and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our captain was very keen to stress that they were all a team, and that no one was more important than anyone else, in the running of the boat although some people were more visible than others.

I am now busy saving up for my next Newmarket River Cruise!

A relaxing way to travel. The crew were pleasant and friendly. The food was excellent.
The only downside was our visits to some of the towns were too short and sometimes too late in the day to really explore.
