Day One

Fly to Toronto, on the shore of Lake Ontario, and catch a glimpse of the mighty Niagara Falls as you transfer to your hotel.

Day Two

Board the coach this morning for the journey across the border into the US, heading across scenic New York State and into 'Keystone State' Pennsylvania. Continue south for a two-night stay in Gettysburg, site of the 1863 battle where Unionist forces overcame the Confederates during one of the bloodiest episodes of the American Civil War.

Day Three

Visit the 'most powerful city on Earth', Washington DC - US capital and site of some of the nation's most recognisable landmarks. Our optional guided city tour will introduce the sights of this centre of power and politics - Capitol Hill, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, The White House.

Day Four

Learn about the colourful history of the birth of the United States as we take a tour of Philadelphia. Here, in 1776, the Declaration of Independence was prepared and, after the tolling of the Liberty Bell, first read to the nation.

After our guided tour we'll travel to Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, for a two-night stay.

Day Five

Enjoy an unforgettable day as you visit Manhattan, the heart of the incomparable Big Apple. Shop, take in the world-famous sights, or join our wonderful optional excursions, which include a guided city tour, during which Central Park, Fifth Avenue and the Empire State Building will be thrillingly revealed.

Day Six

Today you'll head north once more, through beautiful up-state New York, for a last night close to Niagara Falls.

Day Seven

Spend the morning in awestruck wonder as you visit the incredible Niagara Falls, one of the world's greatest natural wonders. Take in the unforgettable views on an optional 10-minute helicopter ride, or perhaps enjoy lunch with us high above the Falls, before you return to Toronto Airport to join your flight home.

Washington and New York Touring Hotels 

The hotels used on our tours will meet the standard of a good, three-star European hotel. Rooms will have private bathrooms, telephones and TV. The vast majority will also have tea- and coffee-making facilities. There will always be a bar or restaurant on site or nearby.

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 90 minutes.

Passports and visas

When travelling to the USA, British citizens require passports with an integrated chip (shown on the front by a small rectangular symbol beneath the word PASSPORT), valid for 90 days after the return date from the tour. Visitors to Canada must apply for an eTA (Electronic Travel Authority) with Canada Immigration before departure at The current charge is seven Canadian dollars for British Citizens, and the eTA is valid for unlimited visits to Canada over a five year period. Visas are not normally required for entry in to the US by land from Canada, although a charge of 6USD is made when crossing the border. British subjects, and anyone who has a criminal record or has ever been arrested, should consult the US and Canadian Embassies as a visa may be required. Note too that if you have visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria, Libya, Somalia or Yemen since March 2011, or have dual nationality with any of these countries, you do require a US Visa and cannot travel on the Visa Waiver Programme.

Border crossing

Please note there is a US$6 per person charge to cross the border from Canada to the USA. This is payable in cash at the border crossing and is not included in the tour price.

Helicopter flights

Sightseeing flights by helicopter are weight controlled and balanced. Please contact us if you wish to book a helicopter flight and your bodyweight exceeds 250lb. (In such cases, a seat may have to be left empty, and some companies may charge a premium.)

On your flight

All outbound flights depart and arrive on the same day. All return flights leave in the evening and land in the UK the next day. On-board meals will usually include lunch and a snack on outward flights, and dinner and breakfast on flight home. Soft drinks are complimentary, but some airlines will charge for alcoholic drinks.

Luggage allowance

You are permitted to take one suitcase per person on the aircraft, which should not exceed 23kg.


Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday, though regular stops will be made for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout, including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops.


Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. Customary gratuity to a coach driver or tour manager is about $5 per person per day; in a taxi or a restaurant leave 12-15 per cent of the bill and, in the bar, leave a dollar or so per drink.

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Changes to your hotels

Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in alternative hotels, of a similar standard, nearby. Full details of your hotels will be sent with your Final Travel Documents.

Hotel rooms

Standard hotel rooms in North America will contain one or two double- or queen-sized beds, and it is not possible to add extra beds to the room. Parties consisting of more than two travellers, but who have only booked one room, will be expected to make use of the two beds provided. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Warrington Couple
Overall the holiday was enjoyable.

However, the flight arrangements were poor in that when checking in at Manchester airport my wife were allocated seats nine rows apart which I had changed and then we found the plane wasn't full. Also the food on the plane was to put it mildly very poor.

Another point we found surprising was that we were asked to pay for the water on the coach. This has not happened on previous Newmarket holidays.

The hotels were good especially the Wyndham at Gettysburg.

The holiday was well planned but we would have preffered more time in Niagra.

It was a excellent holiday, but it was very tiring as everything was rush, rush, rush. We didn't have enough time to eat properly during the day. The optional tours were fantastic, however if you chose to go on the helicopter rides, for New York and Niagara Falls, there was not enough time to explore, as in New York we would have liked to have gone on the free ferry to Stanten Island. Also for the American helicopter ride, there was an additional charge of $35 per person for insurance purposes, which should have been included in the price, when booking the trip and after the helicopter ride, you do not have a guide afterwards, this made it quite scary finding our way around using the subway. In Toronto after the helicopter ride over Niagara Falls there was not enough time to properly explore going over the border from Canada to America. All hotels were fantastic, but food in the hotels was expensive. Outbound flight was good but the return flight was very disappointing, there were no individual TV's, attendants were miserable, the food was disgusting (rubbery sandwich), however there was plenty of room in seats and plenty of toilets. We would use Newmarket again, if it was guaranteed that it would be fully escorted. Please be advised that you only require a ETA Visa, not a ESTA Visa, as you pay as you cross the border, as the Visa information given was very conflicting.

Although a lot of travelling, we enjoyed our trip.We had to wait 1 hr 30 mins for the delayed Gatwick flight before we could transfer to Niagara which was a pain as we were all tired.
It would have been helpful to have had a fridge in all hotel rooms( only one had this facility).
Also Transaat provides free coffee and soft drinks on the flight, we were told we would have to pay for these.
Tout manager was good and organisation generally was good.

Overall the holiday was fantastic, poor meal inflights which was a sandwich, and on the over night flight back home was a slice of cake, coach driver howard was fantastic and always smiling,, liane our tour manager was good, but i found it cheeky to state to everyone how much tip she wanted off everyone,,, tips should be to our discretion and not hers,, the tour guides was fantastic in new york and washington,, i would definitley reccomend this holiday, thank you newmarket for a wonderful organized tour
