Fly to Atlanta, meet your Tour Manager, and transfer to the Alabama state capital, Montgomery - the final resting place of country superstar Hank Williams. Rest, relax and enjoy your first overnight stay.
Today, we'll head south across Alabama into Louisiana, to the great city of New Orleans - the Big Easy - for a two-night stay. This exuberant city is the birthplace of jazz music, and there's a wealth of musical history to be explored. Waste no time soaking up the atmosphere, and perhaps join the optional Steamboat Dinner Jazz Cruise.
This morning's included guided tour is the perfect introduction to New Orleans, and will include a walk past the renowned French Quarter and its time-warped, iron-balconied buildings. This afternoon, join the optional Louisiana Swampland excursion for a glimpse of the surrounding countryside and a taste of Creole life, before returning for another evening in New Orleans.
Bidding farewell to the Big Easy, we'll travel north into Mississippi, cradle of the Delta blues. En route, we'll call at Tupelo, home of the tiny house where Elvis Aaron Presley was born in January 1935 (entrance payable locally). We'll then continue to Memphis, Tennessee, to spend two nights in the Guest House at Graceland, right next to The King's famous home. Relax here, or spend a first evening enjoying the atmosphere of this great music city.
An unforgettable day includes visits to two of popular music's most important pilgrimage shrines: Sam Phillips' legendary Sun Studio, where Elvis recorded the world-changing 'Sun Sessions', and iconic Graceland, where the ground-floor living quarters - including the famous Jungle Room- are left as they were when the King entertained guests 40 years ago. This evening, why not try some delicious pork ribs? Memphis is America's barbecue capital!
There's a change of musical genres today, as we journey to Nashville, for a two-night stay in the undisputed world capital of country music, home to countless guitar-pickers and song-writers.
Today's included excursions will introduce you to legendary Studio B, birthplace of numerous country anthems and a wealth of Elvis's RCA hits, as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame. Spend a second evening in Nashville, perhaps seeking out some live music.
Re-boarding the coach, we'll make the journey east, to spend the next two nights in the wonderful North Carolina spa town of Asheville, on the edge of the Smoky Mountains National Park. A lively university seat with a vibrant music scene, Asheville is a cultured, welcoming town, with a fine selection of restaurants.
Today, you're free to explore Asheville and its New Age shops and stores, or to join our optional excursion to the astonishing Biltmore Estate. Built by George Vanderbilt and modelled on a Loire Valley chateau, the estate is America's largest mansion and stands in the centre of an extensive formal garden. A respected winery and a village of craft shops and restaurants are among the estate's additional attractions.
Today, we head into South Carolina on our way to elegant Charleston, set between the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. En route, we'll visit the historic Boone Hall Plantation, where a stunning avenue of ancient oaks leads to a beautiful 20th-century plantation home. Explore its historic cotton gin house, slave quarters and 700-plus acres of crops, before returning to Charleston for the evening and, perhaps, a dinner out on the town in one of the restaurants along historic King Street.
An included tour of Charleston will take in the renovated Waterfront Park and historic district of exquisite 17th- and 18th-century houses. Later, we'll continue south to arrive by late afternoon in Savannah, considered the most beautiful of the southern belle cities.
Discover exquisite Savannah, exploring its historic quarter of antebellum mansions, magnolia-shaded squares and historic cotton warehouses, and learning about its historic importance to the slave trade and the Civil War. A trolley tour provides the perfect introduction, after which you can stroll along the attractive dogwood and azalea-lined streets, or visit the Savannah History Museum for an insight into the city's colourful past.
Today, we'll begin our return journey across central Georgia, passing Macon - fabled hometown to Little Richard and Otis Redding - and head back to Atlanta Airport, where you'll check in for your return overnight flight.

Passports and visas
When travelling to the USA, British citizens require passports with an integrated chip (shown on the front by a small rectangular symbol beneath the word PASSPORT), valid beyond the return date from the USA. Visas are not normally required for entry, but visitors must apply for an ESTA online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure at www.cbp.gov/esta . The current charge is $14 for British Citizens. British subjects and anyone who has a criminal record or has ever been arrested should consult the US Embassy as a visa may be required. Note too that if you have visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria, Libya, Somalia or Yemen since March 2011, or have dual nationality with any of these countries, you do require a US visa and cannot travel on the Visa Waiver Program.
The American arrivals process
British Citizens travelling to the USA now have to register online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure. We will send you the details you will need to complete your online registration, along with your tickets, about two weeks prior to travel.
Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. The customary gratuity for a coach driver or Tour Manager is about $5 per person per day. It is normal to tip 15-20 per cent of the bill for a taxi or in a restaurant, and to leave a dollar or so per drink in a bar.
Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday; regular stops will be made though for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops.
On your flight
All outbound flights depart and arrive on the same day. All return flights leave in the evening and land in the UK the next day. On-board meals will usually include lunch and a snack on outward flights, and dinner and breakfast on flight home. Soft drinks are complimentary, but some airlines will charge for alcoholic drinks.
You are permitted to take one suitcase per person on the aircraft, which should not exceed 23kg.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.
Changes to your hotels
Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in alternative hotels, of a similar standard, nearby. Full details of your hotels will be sent with your Final Travel Documents.
Standard hotel rooms in North America will contain one or two double- or queen-sized beds, and it is not possible to add extra beds to the room. Parties consisting of more than two travellers, but who have only booked one room, will be expected to make use of the two beds provided. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.
*Low deposit of £75 per person applies to new bookings made between 7th February and 31st March 2017 (inclusive) only. This offer only applies to selected air-inclusive holidays. This offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.
