Day One

Fly to Germany, and transfer to the Olympia. Depending upon your arrival time, you may be able to explore the delightful 'Pearl of the Rhine', Boppard, which sits on the southern side of a great horseshoe bend in the river.

Day Two (Christmas Eve)

Early risers will be awake on Christmas Eve as Olympia begins her journey, past little villages, fairytale castles and beneath the legendary Lorelei rock (where sirens were said to lure unsuspecting sailors to their fates), to Rudesheim.

Spend the afternoon wandering Rudesheim's pretty streets, or join our late-afternoon optional excursion to enjoy an early evening wine tasting and see the remarkable collection of musical instruments that are found in Siegfried's Musik Kabinett, before returning to Olympia for a special Christmas Eve dinner.

Day Three (Christmas Day)

A very relaxed Christmas Day sees Olympia sail downriver to Koblenz and Konigswinter, one of the Rhine's most delightful cities. Enjoy a celebration Christmas Night Dinner Party on board with a traditional Turkey meal on board, with live music.

Day Four (Boxing Day)

On Boxing Day, Olympia cruises back to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, and there's the chance to enjoy an optional excursion to the exquisite wine-producing town of Cochem, picturesquely set on the bank of the Moselle, the Rhine's pretty, smaller sister. The visit will include a chance for you to taste the lovely wines for which the region is famed, before returning to Olympia for a final evening's relaxation.

Day Five

Bid "auf wiedersehen" to Olympia and this captivating part of the world as you return to the airport for your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system. Bottled water can be purchased on board and locally.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Farnborough Couple
A very relaxing break with good service from all the Crew on board. Transfers from Frankfurt Ok but the Coach Driver left us without any firm idea of where we were to meet him passengers from another part of the Airport. He was totally unaware of the effect the building works at Frankfurt had on the exits to the Coach park. He was the same on the return journey. Cruise Manager was very good although his information regarding what was open etc was incorrect and a couple of phone calls beforehand would have solved these problems. So saying it was a good Xmas Cruise.

Wokingham Couple
Basically a very enjoyable experience. Ship fine, Crew fine Meals fine. Good value.
Fellow guests very friendly.
Just one adverse comment on food. Additional vegetables would have made the meals that much better.

Long trip from Koln Airport to Boppard. This was not mentioned( as far as we know) in any documentation.
Long day awaiting transport to Koln for flight home.8.30 until 4pm. No on ship facilities ie coffee and snacks. This would have been appreciated

We thought that a mini bus transport both ways for just two persons was wasteful. A car would have been more appropriate.

Bristol Couple
The issues were around the getting to the ship and then back to the airport. We had no rep in either case and the guy that picked us up didn't know how many people he was picking up and thus wasted time looking for people and didn't know where the boat was and wasted time getting lost and asking the way. On the way back the taxis were late and there was no organisation around them (it was first come first served and the individuals who got on the first taxi were for a later flight and one couple had to be split up. It seemed to me as though Newmarket thought that their reps job begun and ended on the boat.
Finally it would have been nice to have a few more Christmassy touches e.g. crackers and mince pies and, maybe, a Christmas sing a long. The food was really good, but not always served on time. On one occasion we waited 45 minutes between starter and main course at lunch and the Christmas day turkey was bottle necked by only having one member of staff serving
