Resort Information

Set on the quieter side of St Paul's Bay, but with easy access to lively and colourful Bugibba, Qawra offers plenty of interest, with sea-front bars and cafes as well as a sandy beach fringing the bay. Stroll along the promenade to Qawra Point, or perhaps enjoy a long lunch in the sunshine.

Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Malta, meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your chosen hotel in the delightful Qawra area of St Paul's Bay. Relax, and perhaps enjoy a stroll along the seafront promenade to take in the views across to St Paul's Island, before dinner.

Day Two

Spend today relaxing in your hotel or exploring your surroundings at your leisure.

Day Three

Join your Tour Manager for an included exploration of Valletta, the island's fascinating capital. After a visit to the Malta Experience, an award-winning audio-visual presentation that places the city and the island in their historical context, you'll see the major sights, including the Auberge de Castille, magnificent former home to the Knights of St John and now the Prime Minister's office, and the Upper Barracca Gardens.

Day Four

Today's included excursion will see you board the ferry for a crossing to the quaint port of Mgarr, gateway to Gozo - Malta's smaller, greener sister isle.

Visit Victoria - the island's fortified capital - and the fascinating 'Inland Sea' at Dwerja. We'll also stop at Calypso's Cave overlooking sandy Ramla Bay, and the delightful coastal resort of Xlendi, before returning to Malta past the tiny islet of Comino.

Day Five

Spend your day resting and relaxing, and in the evening, join your fellow guests for an evening of traditional Maltese hospitality in the historic town of Mosta. Enjoy a meal of Maltese cuisine served by waiters dressed in authentic period costume, as well as a display of traditional Maltese music and dancing.

Day Six

On today's included tour you'll travel inland to Mdina, the ancient, fortified former capital with its spectacular rampart views and its narrow stone-built streets in the beautiful 'silent city'.

The tour also includes the Grotto at Rabat, where Bellini's 'St Paul' depicts the apostle's shipwreck on the island, and the famous domed church at Mosta, which survived a direct hit during the WW2 bombardment of the island.

Day Seven

Our final included excursion explores the area across from Valletta's Grand Harbour, where three medieval 'cities' reflect the island's rich history. See one of the earliest Maltese Crosses in Vittoriosa, one of the Mediterranean's oldest dockyards at Cospicua, and Senglea with its waterside houses and steps down to the sea.

You'll also pay a visit to the colourful fishing village of Marsxlokk, with its busy market, and Tarxien, where ancient temples contain carved symbols not dissimilar to Celtic engravings.

Day Eight

Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.

The tour guide did not take into account the age and ability of the people we were left behind on 1 occasion and had to get a taxi back she spent too much time expressing her own opinions and dislike of the English

Hotel adequate, food really average. Included excursions too crammed, not enough free time at venues, always rushing to get back to coach, Tour manager very passionate and knowledgeable, but lacking in patience and rude to clients, venue staff and anybody else she could abuse.
Flag came up accusing me of using some bad language, is your tour manager listening?

VALERIE

Leeds Couple
The tour manager who came to the hotel the day after we arrived didn't seem to be able to give us any information apart from the time we would be picked up on leaving!
The food was very good but the dining room was a bit like a huge canteen. The other restaurants which we tried, the Chinese and the Bistro, were excellent in all respects. inclusive wine with the evening meal was a very good idea as was the free water machine in the hotel.
There were two places where we would have like to have stayed longer but we needed to move on the see a cliff and yet another blue lagoon! As a result the tour guide was always in a hurry and got quite agitated and lacked patience with some older people.

PATRICIA

Cumbria Couple
Hotel in a run down poorly maintained area, dining room like a canteen plenty to eat but not a pleasant experience at the end of the day. The restaurants you can book much better esp the Bistro, Kozy bar horrible (voucher system for paying weird) and pool area needs some tlc (must be heaving in the summer). If I had not been on the tour I would have been very disappointed to stay there; not 4 star in my opinion. Visit to the market should be taken off the trip, does not add anything. Shame we could not see the other temple at Hagar Qim. Overall a fascinating, informative week. I think the amount of walking suprised some of the more elderly - maybe you could make this more obvious.

Margaret

Luton Couple
The holiday was good but the group of people that Agnes, our tour manager, had was far too big, 45 people per day, they were also of varying walking abilities. we were always waiting around for people to catch up, or because some were missing!! Agnes's commentary was very good, but with a group that size, unless you were close to her, it was impossible to hear.

Due to miscommunication did not get to meet the relief tour manager until the 3rd day. Given one of the basic rooms on the side street where the building work was being carried out which was extremely noisy. Very friendly hotel, but wish the Qawra Palace had been an option

Group too large for guide to manage, she needed a back marker to help when group got separated in crowds. We did not get time to see all the places listed and everything was a rush.
