Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area in the early morning we'll travel, through the picturesque villages and undulating hills of the Peak District, to our hotel. En route, we'll take in Matlock, Bakewell (home of the famous pudding) and beautiful and unspoilt Miller's Dale.

Day Two

Today will reveal the breathtaking autumnal beauty of the Lake District. This landscape of majestic mountain scenery, flawless lakes and lush valleys is as varied and beautiful as any in the world, and has been beloved of artists throughout history.

We begin our tour with a ride, on the famous Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, down to the pier at Lakeside. Here we'll board the Windermere Steamer for a marvellous cruise up this largest and most beautiful of the Lakes to the charming town of Bowness-on-Windermere.

Day Three

After breakfast we'll head home via the beautiful city of Chester. Explore the famous Rows - galleried tiers of shops dating back to medieval times - visit the fine sandstone cathedral, walk the city walls, or simply relax in a tea shop and watch the world go by.

We'll leave Chester in the early afternoon, arriving in your local area by mid to late evening.

Further Information

Changes to your itinerary

Depending on demand, we may have to reverse Day Two's itinerary, with the railway journey and cruise taking place in the afternoon.

Coach seating arrangements

Your seats on the main coach will be allocated for you in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible. Your Tour Manager or driver will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Would like to say thta there was alot of sitting on the coach travelling, bit to much. Would of been better if they had stopped of at Bakewell and had more time, rather than Matlock Bath and really didn't need to go through the peak district . Hotel was mixed views room was very nice pity about the shower not working, had to use the bath but my mother-in -law was unable to sit in the bath as she would struggle to get out. Breakfast was nice but the two evening meals to be honest i would'nt serve to my dog. Really dreadful.
So really mixed views don't think we would do it again.

An enjoyable experience on the whole. A little longer time would have been appreciated in both Bakewell and Grasmere. Disappointed in the tour manager who gave us little information and had never visited the area. More homework needed!! The hotel rooms and facilities were fine. The evening meals were a bit of a nightmare as basically the hotel was catering for far too many people and insufficient staff to cope with the volume.

I don 't usually go on the included excursions and like to find my own way about but the trip was made good by the staff and safe driving. I travel with Newmarket a lot and would thoroughly recommend them.

The coach driver and tour manager were excellent. The hotel was ok but food not great. Not particularly large portions. Felt rushed in having to get to dinner.
