Your Norwegian Fjords Holiday Itinerary
Every day a new experience
Day One: Fly to Bergen and transfer to your four-star hotel in Balestrand
Fly to Bergen, meet your Tour Manager and transfer, by coach, through spectacular scenery to the village of Balestrand. Settle in to your room, and acquaint yourself with your surroundings, before enjoying your first extensive buffet dinner in the hotel.
Day Two: Explore Balestrand and the shores of the Sognefjord
Today, you'll get to explore Balestrand. The village is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjord, Norway's largest and best-known fjord and the second longest in the world. The area has long attracted visitors who love the clear fresh air, enjoy the beautiful scenery and appreciate the warmth of the welcome virtually everywhere they go.
Day Three: Take a boat trip to explore Bergen
Your first included excursion is an unforgettable day trip by boat to the historic trading port of Bergen. There you'll discover a city of cobbled streets and brightly coloured medieval houses, as well as a busy harbour and open-air fish market. Stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen, and perhaps take the seven-minute trip on the Floibanen funicular up 'Mount' Floyen.
Day Four: An all-too-rare opportunity to visit to the Jostedal Glacier
Join us for today's optional visit to the Jostedal Glacier, mainland Europe's largest ice-floe, and you'll see why it's often described as a mesmerising sight. During the excursion you'll also be able to learn more about this slowly shifting mass at the fascinating Norwegian Glacier Museum.
Day Five: Take advantage of the Norway in a Nutshell optional excursion
Our much-loved Norway in a Nutshell optional excursion takes you on a tour of one of the world's most scenic regions. The experience-packed day includes a ride on the world-famous Flamsbana line from Myrdal to Flam, and a two-hour fjord cruise through Aurlandsfjord and Naeroyfjord to the tiny port of Gudvangen.
Day Six: Explore Sognefjord and the Sogn Folk Museum at Kaupanger
On today's included excursion you can explore Sognefjord and visit the fascinating Sogn Folk Museum at Kaupanger. The museum's fine collection of fishing and 'ice' boats reflecting Norway's age-old interaction with the sea and the fjords.
Day Seven: Spend the day in Balestrand
Spend your final day relaxing in Balestrand. It's your last chance to do your own thing and make the very most of the village and its surroundings. This evening, enjoy a final dinner in the hotel and look back on the highlights of your unique holiday.
Day Eight: Return home to the UK
Transfer back to Bergen airport, and check in for your flight home from Scandinavia.
Hotel transfer times
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately four hours.
Combining hotel transfers
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Airport development fees
An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
