Your Norwegian Fjords Holiday Itinerary
Day One: Fly to Norway
Fly to Bergen, meet your Tour Manager and board our coach to travel through Norway's spectacular scenery to your hotel, in the idyllic village of Balestrand.
Day Two: Leisure day in Balestrand
Today, you'll have time to get to know Balestrand. The village is located on the northern shore of Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord, and has a long history of welcoming British travellers searching for quiet countryside and clear mountain air. Explore its shops, cafe, historic English wooden church, neat cottages and orchards, and enjoy a warm welcome from the friendly inhabitants virtually everywhere you go.
Day Three: Included Bergen cruise excursion
Join your first excursion, today, as we board the morning express boat for a day trip to Bergen - city of cobbled streets and medieval houses, and birthplace of the composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and open-air fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and perhaps take a seven-minute trip on the Floibanen funicular up 'Mount' Floyen.
Day Four: Optional Jostedal Glacier excursion
Join us for today's optional visit to the Jostedal Glacier, mainland Europe's largest ice-floe. This mesmerising mass of ice covers 487 square kilometres in the heart of an even larger national park threaded with icy glacial rivers fed by the glacier's melt water. See the glacier up close, and learn more about its slowly shifting limbs at the fascinating Norwegian Glacier Museum.
Day Five: Optional Norway in a Nutshell excursion
The famous Norway In A Nutshell tour takes in the most stunning parts of the region. Ride the renowned Flamsbana branch line, which drops 20km down the steep-sided valley from Myrdal to Flam, and take a two-hour fjord cruise through Aurlandsfjord and Naeroyfjord to the tiny port of Gudvangen.
Day Six: Included 'Fjord-Life' excursion
On today's included excursion you can explore Sognefjord, and visit the fascinating Sogn Folk Museum at Kaupanger. The museum's fine collection of fishing and 'ice' boats reflects Norway's age-old interaction with the sea and the fjords.
Day Seven: Spend the day in Balestrand
Spend your final day relaxing in Balestrand. It's your last chance to soak up the tranquillity of your surroundings, and make the very most of the village. This evening, enjoy a final dinner in the hotel and look back on the highlights of your unique Norwegian fjords holiday.
Day Eight: Fly back to the UK
Transfer back to Bergen airport, and check in for your flight home from Scandinavia.
Hotel transfer times
The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately four hours.
Combining hotel transfers
We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.
If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.
The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Airport development fees
An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
*Low deposit of £75 per person applies to new bookings made between 7th February and 31st March 2017 (inclusive) only. This offer only applies to selected air-inclusive holidays. This offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.
