Discover the many sides of Lake Garda, on a holiday to Italy.

Italian holidays can promise romance, glamour and scene-stealing, film-set prettiness; and Lake Garda has them all.

Add to that a Mediterranean-like climate, a location surrounded by alpine mountains, plus fine foods and wines, and you'll soon realise that Italy's largest lake is one of those places in the world you just have to visit... probably more than once.

It's clear blue waters are fringed by colourful flora and backed by the wooded slopes of craggy mountains, and it's this jaw-dropping natural beauty that has been drawing visitors (including the rich and famous) to its sun-kissed shores for over 100 years.

See what else awaits you on this holiday in Italy.

  • Take the option of exploring the city of Roman Verona, the setting that inspired Romeo and Juliet

  • Return flights from your chosen airport to Italy: either Milan, Venice or Verona
  • Executive air-conditioned coach travel and transfers
  • Fully escorted by a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced Tour Manager

Single rooms available for a supplement

Must try: The Arco, Tenno and Varone salada meat; the famous Valeggio tortellini; fresh fish; and a glass of Limoncino liqueur.
Fascinating fact: The James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, starred Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko and several of the pretty towns bordering Lake Garda. The film's characteristically dramatic opening sequence was filmed with Alfa 159s chasing Bond's Aston Martin along the SS45 shoreline road and into the open tunnels near Limone. Revel in this image as you sip a holiday Martini of your own: shaken not stirred, of course.
Must bring back: A jar of the local honey, and Biscuit Frollini with Saffron of Pozzolengo.

You say: "I stayed in Limone, which was very beautiful as was the whole area around Lake Garda. The day trips were well organized and made all the more enjoyable by our tour manager?"

Your Tour Base: Lake Garda Hotels In Limone, Malcesine, Riva del Garda Or Torbole

Lake Garda is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday, and each of our elegant, stylish resorts has been selected to reveal the very best that the lake has to offer.

Limone

Named for the hillside terraces of citrus groves that surround it, Limone is a bustling resort on Garda's western shore. Here, cobbled streets lead down to the lake and the lively nightlife offers a delightful counterpoint to relaxed, sunny days.

Malcesine

Malcesine's pretty labyrinth of narrow lanes and squares nestles on Lake Garda's north-eastern shore, beneath green-sloped Mount Baldo. A cable car runs from the town to the summit, and there's also a 13th-century castle to explore.

Riva del Garda

At the northernmost tip of the Lake, Riva is one of Garda's most popular resorts. It's a town of elegant, pastel-painted buildings, medieval architecture and lakeside piazzas - renowned for their excellent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Torbole

A little way east of Riva, Torbole is set in a natural amphitheatre in the foothills of Monte Baldo mountain range. The resort has a lively cafe culture, a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars, and a lovely lakefront promenade. There are beautiful views out across the lake and, if the mood takes you, many watersports to enjoy too.

Lake Garda Tour Itinerary

Every day a new experience

Day One: Travel to Italy and on to Lake Garda

Fly to Milan, Venice or Verona, where you'll be greeted by our expert Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel in Lake Garda.

Day Two: Explore Lake Garda at your leisure

Enjoy a relaxing day at your hotel, or start exploring Lake Garda and the surrounding area. Our Tour Manager will be happy to suggest places to visit and things to do.

Day Three: Grand Circular tour of Italy's largest lake

Our optional Grand Circular Tour will reveal the marvellous scenery that surrounds Lake Garda, by coach and boat. Explore some of the charming lakeside resorts and discover the distinctive character of each section of the shoreline.

Day Four: Visit Venice, the capital of northern Italy's Veneto region

Iconic Venice, a picturesque labyrinth of waterways and alleyways, is one of the world's most beautiful cities. Join our fascinating optional excursion to discover legendary places: the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and the Doge's Palace, famous St Mark's Square with its basilica and bell tower, and the Palace of Prisons.

Day Five: Enjoy Lake Garda at your own pace

Spend a relaxing day enjoying Lake Garda, your hotel and the surrounding area, today.

Day Six: Visit Verona, on the Adige river in Veneto

Today, you can take the optional excursion to "fair Verona", the historic setting for the tragedy of Juliet and her Romeo. See the Roman amphitheatre, where the city's famous opera season is held each year, and treat yourself to a coffee-stop and some people-watching at one of the open-air cafes in the Piazza Bra.

Day Seven: See the Dolomites

The Dolomites are one of Europe's most spectacular mountain ranges, and you can see them with your own eyes on today's optional tour. This full-day excursion takes in Val Rendena, the vast Adamello Glacier, the neighbouring Brenta Dolomites and pretty Val di Genova. Don't miss the chance to take in the stunning views on an optional cable-car ride, too.

Day Eight: Transfer to Milan, Venice or Verona and return home

Bid farewell to beautiful Italy, as you return to the airport and check in for your flight home.

The Free Dolomites Tour is available on Gatwick departures on:

14th and 21st May
2nd and 16th July
27th August
3rd September
8th and 15th October

You must select the optional excursion when making your booking for the offer to apply. This offer applies to new bookings made between 2nd and 31st December 2016 (inclusive) only. The offer is subject to availability, and may be withdrawn at any time.

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time to Lake Garda is approximately three hours from Milan and Venice airports, and one hour from Verona Airport.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Meals in Italy

Guests on half-board arrangements will be served a three-course evening meal, and can expect a first course of traditional pasta or soup, a main meat or fish course accompanied by one or two types of vegetable, and a simple dessert of fruit, cake or Italian ice cream. Breakfasts will usually consist of bread rolls, jam, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Menus will vary from hotel to hotel, but choice will be more limited than in a normal restaurant. In some instances, individual guests who have booked with the hotel independently may be offered a different menu from those who are staying at the hotel as part of a package tour.

Entrance fees

Since some attractions visited offer free admission to visitors at certain times of year, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair or electric scooter, please let us know as soon as possible so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Italian hotel room tax

Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 EURO and 3 EURO per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your Tour Manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Overall the holiday was enjoyable.
The O/G flight was delayed for about 3 hours and we were given food vouchers.
I had a hire car from the airport, so the transfer doesn't apply.
I used the hire car for my own visits, so I cannot comment on the organised trips.
The tour Manager was very pleasant and helpful.
The hotel was ideal and we have stayed there previously, so we knew what to expect.

This is a family run hotel a 20 minute walk from Riva Del Garda. The staff and food were very good. The hotel could be a little noisy, but that was because they had a couple of school parties staying.( What else could you expect of teenagers). The only down side of the hotel was that it didn't have a lounge area for residents to relax and have a drink. There were seats in the reception area, but I always felt that we were in the way. We weren't, and the staff were very good, but you still felt as though you were intruding.
This is a very good hotel and a good base to enjoy the local area.

This was a low budget holiday, in a 2 star hotel so we were not expecting luxury. Lake Garda was as beautiful as ever but maybe we will not visit in mid October again as the weather was unpredictable, cold and some of the shops and restaurants had already closed for the season. If it rained heavily there was nothing to do in the evenings after dinner and TV stations in english were uninteresting, the room basic and chair uncomfortable, our room was so dark we had to have the light on in the day.
